Kate Middleton and Prince William's Family Outing Marks Historic Royal Firsts
Kate Middleton and Prince William brought Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis to the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Scotland, marking multiple public firsts for the royal children during the family's surprise sporting appearance.
Memorable Day for the Wales Family
The Prince and Princess of Wales attended the Commonwealth Games with all three of their children as they watched netball and track cycling events in Glasgow.
The appearance became the first time Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis were publicly seen together in Scotland. Although the siblings regularly spend time at Balmoral during the summer, this marked their first official public outing in the country.
The visit also represented an important milestone for Prince Louis, who joined his parents for a public sporting event for the very first time.
Prince Louis Enjoys His Sporting Debut
The youngest Wales sibling appeared to embrace every moment of the occasion.
Prince Louis smiled throughout the day, happily wearing a Team Wales bucket hat presented to him during the event. He also shared a playful high-five with the Commonwealth Games mascot, Finnie the unicorn, drawing smiles from spectators.
The appearance added another memorable chapter to Louis' growing list of royal engagements, where his lively personality has often captured public attention.
A Family That Loves Sport
Sport has long played an important role in the Wales family's public life.
Prince George and Princess Charlotte have previously accompanied their parents to Aston Villa football matches and major sporting events, including Wimbledon, where they joined the Royal Box for the men's singles final.
Saturday's outing extended that tradition to Prince Louis, giving all three royal children the chance to enjoy one of the Commonwealth's biggest sporting celebrations together.
Gymnastics Conversation Delights Fans
During the visit, the family met gymnasts Abigail and Emily Roper and chatted about their favorite sports.
Princess Kate shared that Prince Louis had been practicing handstands at home. Louis admitted he was "a bit" successful before joking that Princess Charlotte thought he still needed improvement.
Charlotte confirmed she could perform a handstand herself, while Prince George laughed that flexibility was not one of his strengths.
The lighthearted exchange offered another glimpse into the siblings' personalities as they interacted with athletes throughout the day.
