Christopher Lambert, 69, collapsed at Steel City Con in Philadelphia on Saturday, Aug. 8, after reportedly becoming overheated and dehydrated before being taken away by ambulance.
Christopher Lambert Leaves Convention After Medical Emergency
The Highlander star abruptly left the fan convention after collapsing, prompting organizers to cancel his scheduled photo opportunities for the day.
Steel City Con announced on Saturday that Lambert had exited the event because of a “personal issue.” The actor was subsequently escorted from the convention in an ambulance following the medical emergency.
An eyewitness account reported by showbizreporter.com said Lambert suddenly collapsed during the event.
The incident quickly raised concern among fans who had gathered to meet the actor and attend his scheduled appearances.
Organizers Say Lambert Was Overheated and Dehydrated
Despite the alarming incident, Lambert was expected to return to Steel City Con on Sunday, Aug. 9, for photo opportunities and a panel.
Organizers said the actor had been “a little overheated and dehydrated” and needed to sit down, but indicated that he was doing well the following day.
Steel City Con said Lambert was scheduled to resume his appearances at 11:30 a.m. local time on Sunday.
Representatives for Lambert had not immediately responded to a request for comment as of Aug. 9.
Christopher Lambert's Most Famous Roles
Lambert remains best known for playing Connor MacLeod in the 1986 fantasy action film Highlander, a role that became one of the defining performances of his career.
The French actor also portrayed Tarzan in 1984's Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes and played Lord Raiden in the 1995 live-action adaptation of Mortal Kombat.
His convention schedule remains active, with appearances planned at Fan Expo Chicago and Mad Monster Expo in North Carolina later this month.
Previous Health Scare Forced 2025 Appearance Cancellation
Lambert's latest health-related incident comes more than a year after he canceled a scheduled appearance at the Swedish festival SciFi World in March 2025.
At the time, he had reportedly fallen down a set of stairs at a hotel and suffered a back injury.
For now, Lambert is expected to continue his scheduled convention appearances, following his return to Steel City Con on Sunday.
