The Swimming Lesson is expanding its ensemble with Lamorne Morris, Abby Elliott, Michael Strassner, and Joey Bicicchi joining Heidi Gardner and William H. Macy in writer-director Casey Twenter's upcoming indie drama, which begins production next month in Kansas City.

The upcoming feature continues to build momentum as its cast expands with several well-known television and film actors.
Lamorne Morris, recognized for Spider-Noir and Fargo, joins the production alongside Abby Elliott, whose recent work includes The Bear and Saturday Night Live. Michael Strassner (The Baltimorons) and Joey Bicicchi (Rudderless) have also signed on for the project.
The film reunites them with previously announced stars Heidi Gardner and William H. Macy, who lead the emotionally driven dramedy.
What Is The Swimming Lesson About?
The story follows Tay, played by Gardner, a single mother who leaves Los Angeles and returns to her childhood home after her life takes an unexpected turn.
She soon becomes entangled in a custody battle involving her son Albee, an autistic child fascinated by the ocean but deeply afraid of swimming. The emotional conflict forms the heart of the film while exploring family, resilience and second chances.
William H. Macy portrays Leonard, Tay's outspoken father. Though his rough personality often creates friction, his unwavering loyalty to both his daughter and grandson remains a defining part of the story.
