Barry Ward Discusses Everybody Digs Bill Evans, KVIFF and New Projects
Irish actor Barry Ward reflected on his growing slate of film and television projects while attending the 60th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF), where he discussed Everybody Digs Bill Evans, The Flying Mountain, Netflix's Grown Ups, and Ireland's thriving production scene.
Barry Ward Returns to Karlovy Vary
Ward has become a familiar face at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival after attending the event for several consecutive years.
While promoting one of his latest films, the actor recalled serving on the festival's main competition jury in 2023, calling it an unforgettable experience that unexpectedly led to another career opportunity.
"I was invited in 2023 to be a jury member for the main competition and had the time of my life," Ward said.
During that edition of the festival, Ward met Slovenian filmmaker Olmo Omerzu, who later cast him in Ungrateful Beings. The collaboration quickly came together, and after completing production, the team returned to Karlovy Vary to celebrate the film's festival journey.
Balancing Film, Television and Netflix
Ward continues to expand his resume across film and streaming projects. Among the productions drawing attention are Everybody Digs Bill Evans, The Flying Mountain, and the upcoming Netflix series Grown Ups.
The actor's ability to move comfortably between independent cinema and high-profile television has made him one of Ireland's busiest performers. His previous work in acclaimed titles such as Bad Sisters and The End of the Fing World* has further strengthened his international profile.
Ireland's Growing Production Industry
Beyond discussing his latest roles, Ward also highlighted Ireland's rapidly expanding film and television industry.
With international productions increasingly choosing Ireland as a filming destination, the country's creative sector continues to attract major investment, creating new opportunities for local actors, filmmakers and production crews.
Ward's packed schedule reflects that momentum as he continues balancing festival appearances with an expanding lineup of international projects.
