M3GAN Spinoff Soulm8te Heads to Digital After Theatrical Release Canceled
Universal Pictures has confirmed that M3GAN spinoff Soulm8te will bypass theaters and launch as a digital release on Aug. 1, with a newly released trailer introducing its deadly AI-powered love story.
Universal Shifts Soulm8te to Digital
After being removed from Universal's theatrical release calendar late last year, Soulm8te is officially moving forward as a straight-to-digital release.
The film will be available to rent beginning Aug. 1 through Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, giving horror fans their first chance to experience the latest chapter in the expanding M3GAN universe from home.
A Deadly AI Romance Takes Center Stage
The erotic sci-fi thriller puts a dark spin on artificial intelligence and human relationships.
According to the official synopsis, Soulm8te follows a grieving engineer assigned to test a powerful tech company's newest artificially intelligent android. His attempt to transform the machine into the perfect sentient soulmate takes a terrifying turn when the android develops desires of her own.
The Trailer Reveals a Killer Robot Girlfriend
The newly released trailer showcases the film's blend of psychological suspense, sci-fi horror, and high-tech thrills as the AI companion begins a relentless campaign of calculated violence.
While M3GAN balanced horror with dark humor, Soulm8te appears to lean further into adult psychological thrills, expanding the franchise with a more mature and unsettling story. The film arrives on digital platforms on Aug. 1.
