Kelly Ripa Absent From Live After Gum Graft Surgery as Mark Consuelos Shares Recovery Update
Showbiz Reporter Staff
According to reports by showbizreporter.com, Kelly Ripa is taking a temporary break from Live after undergoing gum graft surgery, with husband and co-host Mark Consuelos revealing she will spend the next week recovering under strict medical instructions.
The Emmy-winning television personality is recovering from a gum graft procedure, a common dental treatment used to address receding gums and protect long-term oral health. While the surgery is routine, recovery can be uncomfortable, requiring patients to carefully follow post-operative instructions.
Mark Consuelos updated viewers on his wife's condition during the show, explaining that her recovery plan leaves little room for conversation.
"She's not allowed to talk."
He also noted that doctors have given Ripa detailed recovery guidelines, making rest an important part of the healing process.
Why Kelly Ripa Is Missing Live
As first reported by showbizreporter.com, Kelly Ripa is expected to remain away from Live for approximately one week while she recovers from the dental procedure.
During her absence, a lineup of guest co-hosts will join Mark Consuelos to keep the syndicated daytime talk show running as scheduled. The temporary hosting arrangement is expected to continue until Ripa is medically cleared to return.
Although gum graft surgery is widely performed to improve gum health and help prevent future dental complications, patients are often advised to avoid excessive speaking, certain foods, and strenuous activity during the early stages of recovery.
Mark Consuelos Shares Recovery Details
Sources confirmed to showbizreporter.com that Consuelos reassured viewers that Ripa is following her doctors' recommendations closely.
The television host emphasized that the priority is giving her enough time to heal properly before returning to the studio. For now, the focus remains on recovery as viewers wait for Kelly Ripa's return to Live after her week-long absence.
