Martha Stewart revisits her iconic 1995 cover with a new editorial photo shoot at her Bedford, New York farm, reflecting on her career, dating, and her determination to keep pursuing new projects.

Martha Stewart has recreated her iconic 1995 magazine cover nearly 31 years later, returning in front of the camera just days before her 85th birthday while reflecting on her remarkable career, personal life and relentless drive to keep building new projects.

Martha Stewart Revisits a Defining Moment

The new photo shoot took place on July 23, 2026, at Stewart's sprawling 156-acre farm in Bedford, New York, where she recreated the famous 1995 cover that introduced readers to her world of homemaking, business and perfectionism.
Despite the decades between the two shoots, Stewart says much of her daily routine remains unchanged. She still wakes before dawn—often around 3 a.m.—to complete puzzles before beginning a packed schedule. These days, however, her breakfast has shifted from homemade blueberry muffins to green juice and cappuccino.
She also spent part of the day promoting her latest venture, a home intelligence app called Hint, proving that innovation remains high on her priority list.
"I'm very particular still. I still am a perfectionist," Stewart said. "I like to do many things at the same time."

From Homemaker to Business Icon

Stewart's journey began long before she became a household name. After modeling in high school and graduating from Barnard College, she launched a catering company that eventually led to bestselling cookbooks, television programs, magazines and a media empire.
By 1999, she had become the first self-made female billionaire in the United States, transforming homemaking into a global business brand.
Looking back on the 1990s, Stewart remembers it as one of the most successful chapters of her career.
"It was a great time because my company was thriving," she recalled, adding that her magazine reached millions of readers while her growing brand dominated television and publishing.

Success, Setbacks and Reinvention

Stewart acknowledged that her journey hasn't been without challenges.
Her highly publicized prison sentence in 2004 and the financial losses that followed marked one of the toughest periods of her life. Yet she rebuilt her career with remarkable momentum.
Since then, she has written more than 100 cookbooks, launched restaurants, expanded beauty and lifestyle ventures, and became the oldest Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover star at age 81.
Even with countless accomplishments behind her, Stewart says she's still learning.
"I didn't have an app for my home, and so I'm making one," she said. "My goal is to keep learning about everything.

Life on her Bedford farm continues to inspire Stewart every day.
She describes mornings filled with fresh vegetables from the garden, eggs from the henhouse and peaceful country surroundings. Yet even with that tranquil lifestyle, she keeps finding new projects—including recently regrouting her marble kitchen floors herself.
An autobiography is also in development, promising another look into the experiences that shaped one of America's most influential lifestyle entrepreneurs.

Martha Stewart on Dating Later in Life

Stewart also reflected on relationships decades after her divorce.
While she once admitted she admired friends with happy marriages, her perspective has evolved with age.
She now believes companionship has become less important than it once was, explaining that she has little interest in taking on the responsibilities that often come with an aging partner.
Her focus instead remains firmly on personal growth, new ventures and continuing to challenge herself.
